I was never a big fan of painting my nails up until about a year ago. Every time I had ever painted my nails in the past, it lasted for like 3 days and then started chipping off which annoyed me. Of course, I went through that phase at the end of high school with acrylic nails...don't we all go through that phase? Then I discovered Essie thanks to Pinterest. One of my former co-workers inspired me to start painting my nails. She would change her nail polish religiously and I always loved seeing how cute and different her nails looked. So thanks to her, I thought I would give nail polish another try and get some of this Essie stuff everyone was raving about on Pinterest. Since then, I've become addicted.
Essie and I have a very committed relationship. I always bring my Essie polish with me to the salon and I refuse to use any other brand of polish. This polish stays perfect on my hands without any chips for around 2 weeks, which is a heck of a lot longer than any other polish I've ever used. Plus, there are so many pretty colors to choose from.
Sometimes I paint my nails myself, but most of the time I go to the nail salon and just get a polish change. Not the full manicure deal, just take the old color off and paint the new color on. It only costs 6 bucks. Quite the deal. Since I come in about every two or so weeks and bring my own polish, all the little Vietnamese women in the salon know me. They call me "the Essie girl" because I bring my Essie polish in a ziploc baggie every time. When I went into the salon today to get my color changed, one of the guys who isn't usually working when I come in said, "pick a color" and pointed to the wall of nail polishes when I walked in the door; immediately one of the ladies recognized me and says to him, "oh no, the Essie girl bring her own". So apparently I have developed quite the reputation.
Every time I go to paint my nails, I have to bust out my collection and spend a few minutes pondering, "Which one?" It mostly depends on the season and what I have coming up in the next two weeks. Like I'm not going to attend someone's wedding in a formal dress with freakin' blue nails. Every now and then I need a little change from my normal collection, so I splurge on a new color. FYI - they sell Essie at Bed Bath and Beyond, so you can use one of those 20% coupons that BB&B always has and get a good deal on your polish. You can also buy it at some CVS and Target locations or on their website. I highly recommend Essie nail polish to everyone. I'm obsessed and once you try it, you will be too.
