This has been a long journey y'all. The past 19 months have been full of ups and downs, tears and disappointments, and what has felt like so many unanswered prayers. Luckily, our faith has been able to get us through every obstacle along the way. Which is why it is with great joy and unimaginable excitement, that I am able to announce that God has finally answered our prayers.
On September 30, 2013, we received the phone call that would change our lives. Jared and I sat on the couch together with our IVF nurse on speaker phone as she read us our positive blood test results and congratulated us on our pregnancy! We both remained calm on the phone and thanked her immensely. She has been my assigned fertility nurse since we started our treatments back in January. She has been with us every step of the way and I couldn't imagine going through all that we did without her. She has watched us go through so much and I could tell that she was genuinely excited for us.
After hanging up the phone, Jared and I sat on the couch in silence just looking at each other. Finally, I burst into tears. Over a year and a half's worth of built up emotions, pain and hormones just came pouring out all at once. I was so overwhelmed with joy and relief, I couldn't contain it.
We spent the rest of the day calling friends and family and celebrating. Those first few days were so surreal. I was excited, but didn't feel pregnant. Part of me was still afraid that eventually the inevitable ball was going to drop and I would soon find out that I, in fact, was not pregnant. I finally got over that the first time I saw our baby on the ultrasound screen and the first time I heard it's heart beat. We are now over 8 weeks in and I finally feel like this is really happening. Our prayers have been answered and we couldn't be happier.
Jared and I started out on this journey alone. It was horrible and ineffective. As we slowly started to let our friends and family in, things began to improve. The more people we let in, the more prayers we received and the more progress we made. I firmly believe that the the faith and love of those around us and the power of prayer, truly made this baby a reality. This never would have happened without the love and support of all of you. I cannot thank you all enough. We are also immensely grateful to the amazing medical staff at Brown Fertility. They have been catering to my every need and taking such great care of me for the past 10 months, we are so thankful for them.
I've been spending the past year and a half wondering why my prayers were going unanswered. I was frustrated and irritated, always demanding, "when is it going to be my turn?" I knew that God had a plan for me, but I wanted my baby to be a part of His plan right then when I wanted it. Looking back, I have realized that God's plan is always the best plan. Now is truly the perfect time for us to have a baby. God knew it would be all this time, we just had to be patient and wait for our blessing. I am so glad that He always has our best interest at heart.
Thank you all so much for all of your prayers and well wishes. We truly appreciate all the support that you have given us more than you will ever know. We are so excited to become parents and can't wait for the arrival of Baby Roche in June 2014!
Thank you for joining me on this journey and I can't wait to share the rest of our story on becoming a family of three over the upcoming months!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your newest blessing!
ReplyDeleteHi Jacki,
ReplyDeleteI was looking to see if there was an email address to email you privately, but since I couldn't find one, I'll email you on here! Reading your story made it seem like I wrote the story myself. My husband and I just completed our first IVF and the day after Christmas we received the call from my wonderful nurse that I am pregnant! We also spent the day telling family and friends. We are Christians and just knew we had to give it all to God and He would answer our prayers on His timing. As you said, once we opened up to more people, that allowed for more prayers to be said and I believe also that because of them, God answered our prayers! I go for my first ultrasound on Friday. I am a little nervous...just praying for a healthy growing baby and strong heartbeat. We are most likely due at the end of Aug/beginning of Sept. Congratulations to you! :)
