Project 365 - Week 35

I posted absolutely nothing this week. Sorry y'all...blogger fail. By the way, I am so sick of doing these Project 365 posts, but I am more than half way through the year and I haven't skipped one yet so I am going to keep truckin. I rarely make a year long goal and stick to it, so I promised myself that I would see this one through. Can't give up now :)

Project 365 - Week 34

Better late then never, right? Last week was the first week of the new school year, which was hectic of course. One of these days I will get around to blogging about something worthwhile instead of just playing catch up all the time. Until then, here is yet another belated post...

Bid Day Throwback

Today is Bid Day at Florida State University. I want to send my best wishes to all of the Panhellenic women at FSU and congratulate them on another successful recruitment. I am thinking about my Phi Mu sisters today because Bid Day was always my favorite day of the school year. It was a day that changed my life and I always loved welcoming our future sisters to their new home. I so wish that I could be with my sisters at the Alpha Epsilon chapter on this special day. I will be spending today with my Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter and we are sending all our love and congratulations to Tallahassee.

My very last Bid Day...one of the perks of being President is that you get to lay in front of the group Bid Day shot. I'm the one laying on the sidewalk on the left side, and yes it is horribly uncomfortable "lounging" gracefully on the sidewalk like that.

Birthday Love

This week had just been full of family birthdays for me. Yesterday, my brother turned 30 and today my sister turns 25! Ok, so Erika is actually my sister-in-law, but we're really close so I consider her my actual sister.

When I was little, I always told my mom that I wanted a sister. I never ended up getting a biological sister, but I did inherit an awesome sister when I married Jared. I am so glad that this marriage not only brought me an amazing husband, but a fabulous sister who I consider one of my dearest friends as well.

30 Going On 13

Today is my big brother's 30th birthday. If you know my brother, then you understand why the title of this blog post is appropriate. I like to think that my brother takes after my dad in a lot of ways. He is always the life of the party, never acts his age and is a real man's man. Whether it's hunting, fishing, or building stuff, my brother has always been a lot like my dad. Hence the reason that from a young age I was able to do all of these things too.

When we were little, I wanted to be just like Chris. Everything he did, I wanted to do. When all the other little girls dressed up like princesses for Halloween, I was a Ninja Turtle because that's what Chris wanted to be. He used to dress me up in football pads and tackle me and I loved every minute of it. Of course he picked on me and tormented me, but I learned a lot from him. He convinced me to go through sorority recruitment my freshman year of college which changed my life. My knowledge of hunting and fishing acquired from him helped Casey and I flirt with fraternity guys in college (my husband being one of them).

I honestly feel so blessed to have an older brother and I wish that all girls could experience what it is like to have one. I hope that one day my daughter has an older brother like mine.
