High Five for Friday

Happy Friday friends! It's time to dish about my week with a little High Five for Friday goodness. Have a great weekend, start getting your liver nice and conditioned for 4th of July next weekend :)

1. I bought myself a new phone case since my ghetto one that I bought off Amazon was falling apart. I always get a cheap phone case and then I end up having to replace it every couple months. Alas, this time I decided to treat myself to a Lilly Pulitzer phone case. It's just more ME anyways :)

2. Last weekend, my mom and I were in Chattanooga, Tennessee for a family friends' baby shower. I wrote a whole post about it here. Congratulations Jen and Chad!

3. My sister-in-law, Melissa, took me horseback riding. Read my post about it here.

4. I have developed quite the obsession with the movie Pitch Perfect. It's getting a little out of control. In fact, it's playing in the background as I write this blog post. Feel free to judge me.

5. My mother-in-law has been staying at my house and I have been taking care of her for the past two weeks since her knee replacement surgery. This week she had the staples taken out of her knee and now she can go home and get back to her puppies! I'm very happy that she is feeling so much better now. Yay for recovery and progress :)

For some extra joy here on this beautiful Friday, a little Luke Bryan goodness. You're welcome. Swoon.

High Five for Friday

It's Friday! Yippie :) Which means it's time for another weekly installment of High Five for Friday with Lauren! Please contain your excitement and have a fantastic weekend. Don't forget to turn your clocks forward on Saturday night!

1. It's finally March and this girl is pretty darn excited about it! I love March for a number of reasons.
#1 Spring Break...Yes, I am a teacher which means I still get Spring Break. I knew I loved this job for a reason. #2 St. Patrick's Day...Only one of my favorite holidays ever. Plus, I met my husband on St. Patty's Day so it holds a special place in my heart. Aww. #3 Warm weather...except that it's still cold in Florida right now! What the heck? That groundhog lied. If I lived anywhere remotely close to Pennsylvania, you better believe that I would be out there with my Beretta looking for good 'ole Punxsutawney Phil. #4 Spring Break...did I mention that Spring Break is this month?

2. Jared and I went to Disney last weekend and it was horribly windy and terribly cold awesome! Blog post and photos coming soon! (Sorry for the delay, I was really busy this week.)

3. I had my formal teaching observation today and I think it went really well. Now that I'm Teacher of the Year at my school, I absolutely hate being observed. I feel like when people come to observe the "Teacher of the Year", they expect me to do something spectacular like juggle flaming batons in the middle of my lesson or something. My students were very well behaved during the observation so I gave them candy at the end of class. Sorry y'all but children + bribery = success every time.

4. I am doing absolutely nothing this weekend. Nothing. I am so excited. Oh and daylight savings is happening this weekend. Hooray for longer days!

5. My sorority, Phi Mu, celebrated Founders' Day this past Monday. Cheers to 161 years of sisterhood! My local Alumnae Chapter hosted a luncheon in honor of Founders' Day on Sunday and I was re-elected President of our chapter. Read my post about it here.

High Five for Friday

Happy Friday my loves! Today, I'm linking up with Lauren for High Five for Friday. Have a spectacular 3-day weekend...woooo! Thank you Presidents!

1. Our friends, Mark & Christina McGuire, came in town for the weekend and stayed with us. There were lots of late night chats, wine, cigars (for the boys, not us), bonfires, and s'mores!

2. Last weekend, our friends Mike & Emily got married! I loved their wedding favors; everyone loves a free koozie. You can read my post about their wedding here

3. I finally broke down and bought an Erin Condren life planner. Blog post coming soon!

4. Jared and I went with both of our moms, my brother and his wife to go see Top Gun at the IMAX in 3D. This has always been one of my all-time favorite movies. My brother and I used to watch it together over and over again growing up so it was fun to get to share this experience with him.

5. This year for Valentine's Day, Jared got me some "non-traditional V-Day" flowers (I hate red roses) and a 3 pound box of Oreos. Thank you Costco. It was the perfect Valentine's Day gift. My hubby knows me so well.

High Five for Friday

Thank the Lord it is Friday. I know this was only a four day work week, but it seemed like the longest four days ever. By the way...January is almost over? When did that happen? Oh well, just means we are closer to spring! Yessss :)

Here is my Top 5 for this week...

1. We got to hang out with some of our amazing friends over the weekend. Friends who live here in Jacksonville and friends who came to visit from out of town. It was great spending time with them. We are so blessed to have the best friends ever.

2. I decorated my house for Valentine's Day! I actually don't care for Valentine's Day as a holiday at all, I think it's pretty stupid...however, I do like pink and hearts so I still decorate for it :)

3. My intern started teaching all of our classes completely on her own this week. While it is very challenging for me to give up control of my classroom, I love having my freedom.

4. We had an Executive Board meeting for our local Phi Mu Alumnae Chapter and made a lot of great progress! I love being our Chapter President and I'm pretty sure that I will probably be a Phi Mu officer in some capacity for life. LIOB

5. Two of my favorite Phi Mu ladies celebrated their birthdays this week. My best friend, Casey, turned 26 on Wednesday and my great grand-little, Lizzy, turned 23 yesterday!

Have a great weekend!

High Five for Friday

Happy Friday my loves! Today was a teacher planning day and we have no school on Monday, so I am in an especially good mood today :)

Here is my Top 5 for this week...

1. I was asked to serve as a judge for the Greek Awards at the University of North Florida here in Jacksonville. So for two evenings this week, I interviewed the amazing student leaders of UNF's Greek community in order to choose the Top 10 Greek Men and Women of UNF. This was truly an awesome experience. Listening to these students speak so passionately about their experience in Greek Life reminded me of how fortunate I was to have been able to take part in that same experience. It really made me realize that so much of who I am today is owed to my ongoing experience with Greek Life.

2. Jared and I finally made it back to church on Sunday. We have literally been out of town almost every weekend since August, so we had not been to church since then. Football season, hunting season and the holiday season pretty much run our lives from September to January. It felt great to be back!

3. The 2nd grading period is officially over, which means we are half-way done with this school year!

4. One of my dear friends surprised me on Monday by sending me flowers at work! It seriously made my day. Thanks Heather! Side note: I have had surprise "just because" flowers sent to my classroom twice so far this school year, both times from girl friends. Let's just say I have pretty awesome friends :)

5. Jared made me breakfast for dinner on Tuesday night. Waffles, yum. I felt like I was back in the sorority house, which made my night. Nostalgia. Back in college, Phi Mu would randomly serve breakfast for dinner and I loved it, which is kind of ironic because breakfast is my least favorite meal of the day. However, for some reason eating breakfast foods at dinner time just makes them so much more enjoyable.

Have a fabulous weekend!

High Five for Friday

It has been a while since I linked up with Lauren for her weekly High Five for Friday post. This week seemed to go on forever, so I am ecstatic that it is finally over. Therefore, we are celebrating the end of this week with my Top 5...and a glass of wine of course.

Here is my Top 5 for this week...

1. I got my new teaching intern for the spring semester this week. Hallelujah! Having an intern makes the next 15 weeks of my life pretty amazing. Thank you UNF College of Ed students!

2. I have been doing so well with my New Year's Resolutions thus far! Even though this was a long, exhausting week, I did not have a single drop of alcohol. I even went out to a dinner/planning meeting with my Phi Mu Alumnae Chapter and did not drink the entire time. I am so proud of myself, in fact, that I am rewarding myself with a glass of wine tonight :) Don't worry, I'm not breaking my own rules because Friday night isn't considered part of a "weekday" in my book; anything after 4:00 on Friday is the weekend.

3. I got to hang out with my Phi Mu sisters from my Alumnae Chapter on Wednesday night at a restaurant I love, Speckled Hen. We planned out some great events for spring and enjoyed a girls' evening out.

4. I worked the concession stand at my school for the girls and boys basketball games on Thursday night. I absolutely adore watching my former students play sports. They get so excited when they see me at their games and I really enjoy interacting with them outside of the classroom setting. Watching them excel at something that is so much fun for them and makes them happy makes me so proud to have been their teacher.

5. All my TV shows came back this week! My husband and I have a lot of shows that we like to watch together and so many of them premiered a new season this week. My DVR is nice and full, and I am ready for a relaxing weekend. The best show of this week was probably the premiere of The Bachelor (don't worry, I didn't make Jared watch that with me). You can read my review of the episode here. PS - I can't believe that I am considering The Bachelor to be one of the best things about my week...who am I?

High Five for Friday

I just love this High Five for Friday link-up because I feel like the week is almost over and everyone deserves a high five on Friday! Some people deserve a high five to the face, but hey whatever...oh, did I really write that...oops :) Either way, congratulations on surviving another work week...high five!

Here are my top 5 from this week!

1. I am co-hosting an engagement party for our friends in July and I was in charge of doing the invitations. Of course I can't just go out and buy normal invitations; I had an idea in my mind and decided that I would make them all from scratch on my own. The invite as a whole came out really cute, I'm very proud of it...move over Martha Stewart! I will be posting a blog post soon on the whole DIY process behind these invites, but in the mean time...here's a little preview.

2. I had a breakfast date on Wednesday morning with my friend (and fellow engagement party co-hostess) MaryAnn to catch up and work on planning the engagement party for our friend. One of my favorite things about summer is getting to catch up on my girl time. I can't wait till I'm a stay at home mom like her and then we can do breakfast dates together all the time :)

3. Yesterday, my sister-in-law and I had a High School Musical marathon and it was awesome. When the DVD gave us the option of watching the normal version of the movie or the sing-along version, we opted for the normal version simply because we don't need the words at the bottom of the screen since we already know the words to all of the songs...sorry I'm not sorry. After the HSM marathon was over, we decided to continue the Zac Efron theme and watch another one of his movies while enjoying some Pizza Hut. Side note: I know I'm a married woman, but even I can't deny how ridiculously good looking Zac Efron is. Oh, and by the way this does not make me a creepy cougar because he is only 6 months younger than I am, trust me, I looked it up.

4. I am thoroughly enjoying doing nothing so far this summer. Technically, I've only been on summer break officially for three days, but it has been amazing. Getting up whenever I want, blogging, going to Target and Hobby Lobby, watching movies, reading, and just laying around doing nothing has been amazing. Sometimes it's just nice to have nothing to do at all.

5. Last weekend, I stayed at the Vero Beach Hotel and Spa with my mom and my aunt. Every June, we do a girls' beach weekend to celebrate the end of the school year. I love hanging out with them and doing nothing but pool, beach and cocktails. It is exactly what I need to kick off my summer!

Please pray that all this rain goes away, so that I can go to the beach this weekend. Have a great weekend and do something nice for your daddy on Sunday!

High Five for Friday

Happy Friday everyone! I'm trying out a new link-up this week because sometimes we just need a little change :) I am linking up with Lauren today for her weekly High Five for Friday post. Essentially, you reflect on your week and write about your five favorite things that came from it. Here goes nothing...

Here is my top 5 this week...

1. I have been taking these stupid Reading Competency classes for the past 3 years in an attempt to get my Reading Endorsement added to my Teaching Certificate. I turned in my final portfolio this week and my instructor called me today to tell me that I passed and I am officially Reading Endorsed!

2. I am doing a novel study with my students on Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, so I started introducing the Holocaust to them today. They were so interested in learning about it, and we had such insightful and intelligent conversation about it. They are so excited about reading the book, which makes me really excited too!

3. I finally hung up curtains (well, valances actually) in my kitchen. The decor in there finally looks complete...after 3 years.

4. My tan is finally starting to come back! I got to go to the beach twice this past weekend and it was amazing!

5. I got to go back to Tallahassee this past weekend as well. My sister-in-law graduated from Florida State University with her Masters in Social Work. She is thebomb.com

I would post pictures of all these lovely events on here, but I already did that on my weekly Project 365 post yesterday. You can check it out here: Project 365 - Week 18
