A Family Affair

Last Saturday, I was very excited to be reunited with my entire Phi Mu family for the first time in a very long time. The occasion: my grand-little, Chelsea, was getting married. The wedding took place on Alcyone Plantation in Lake Park, Georgia which is right outside of Valdosta. Jared, Boden and I headed over to Valdosta on Saturday morning and met up with my great great great grand-little, Kate. Boden attended the wedding as Kate's date and the 4 of us stayed together in Valdosta.

We arrived in Valdosta early in the afternoon on Saturday, in order to meet up with the groomsmen at the hotel so that Jared could work his magic. Jared is pretty well known among friends, family and co-workers as "the bow-tie guy". Since Jared is such a pro as tying bow-ties, he was asked to tie all of the bow-ties for the groom and groomsmen for the wedding. After making sure the groomsmen looked up to par, we embarked on our next adventure, finding 40s of beer. With our 40s in tow, we made our way back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding.

The wedding ceremony was absolutely beautiful, even with the rain. Luckily, it just thundered through most of the ceremony and didn't start raining until the very end. They were very prepared though, with a cute little lacy parasol to keep the bride out of the rain :)

It only rained for a little bit during the cocktail hour, but we were under a tent and I was too preoccupied with wine and hors d'oeuvres to care. Once the rain stopped, we seized the opportunity to take some pictures on the beautiful grounds of the plantation.

The reception kicked off with some delicious Southern food and a great New Orleans-style band. They even had frat games such as ladder ball and corn hole out on the lawn. We had a blast at the wedding and it was so great to get to spend time with my Phi Mu sisters, especially my family!

Time for Phi Mu songs!

Just can't get enough of this beautiful family!

As the groomsmen started taking off their bow-ties, the bridesmaids took them and had Jared tie the wedding bow-ties on them :)

Best Wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Rye!
