Peyton's Newborn Photos

Our amazing photographer, Ariel, paid us another visit to do Peyton's newborn photos a few weeks ago. She took our maternity photos for us, and I was so in love with them that I just had to have her come back to capture some moments of our precious baby girl and our new little family of three.

She was at our house for about 5 hours...yes, she put up with me for 5 hours...this woman is a saint. Normally, it wouldn't take that long to do a newborn shoot, but we had to take a break in the middle because we had a little poop fiasco. Thankfully, Ariel was super patient with Peyton (and let's be honest, with me mostly because we all know how meticulous I am about my photos) making sure that each photo was just perfect.

First, we did the naked pictures because she was calm and asleep...I mean who doesn't love photos of a naked baby! One photo I really wanted was of Peyton naked on my wedding dress. However, I was super nervous about doing this because I terrified that Peyton was going to poop on the dress during the process. Although I am not really sure why I cared, the dress has been sitting in a closet untouched for the past 5 years and I have no plans to do anything else with it. Anyways, so here I was a nervous wreck the entire time Ariel is trying to pose Peyton on the dress. When she was finished, we all took a sign of relief and quickly removed Peyton from the dress. Jared laid her on a changing pad on top of the comforter of our guest bed next to the dress so that we could put a diaper on her and get her ready for her next outfit. Literally 30 seconds after Jared took her off of my wedding dress and laid her down, she projectile pooed everywhere. Jared managed to jump out of the way fast enough to remain unscathed by the poop...thank goodness, because he was already dressed for our family photos and we had not done them yet. So instead of hitting him, the poop went all over Peyton, the changing pad, the guest bed comforter and about two feet off of the bed all over the carpet...but not on the wedding dress, Hallelujah. This fiasco began Peyton's inconsolable crying. We tried to calm her down, we tried continuing to take pictures, but none of it was working. She was just too upset for us to carry on. So we took a little break and since it had already been almost 3 hours since she ate, I nursed her hoping that would calm her down. I was not about to give up on these photos just yet. I was determined. Luckily, my nursing plan worked and she finally calmed down and went back to sleep.

We reconvened our photo shoot and a few hundred pictures later, we were all exhausted. I'm glad I didn't give up though because the end result was well worth it. I am so in love with these photos! I can't wait to frame some of them and finally finish decorating my house after 5 years. I know I'm a little obsessive about taking pictures (poor Jared), but for me nothing is more of a worthwhile investment than capturing these memories so that I can have them forever.

I would love to share all of the photos on here, but I trying to not make this the longest blog post in recorded history. So without further adieu, here are a few of my favorites...

Sweet baby girl on mommy's wedding dress

Yes, I am wearing a white dress only 9 days after delivering a 10 pound baby. I might be the bravest or dumbest woman in the entire world. No shame here :)

The Adams' family bible turned to the verse that basically sums up this entire journey.
1 Samuel 1:27
For this child I have prayed, and the Lord has given me what I have asked of Him.

Thank you so much to Ariel with Ariel Rose Photography for capturing all these precious memories for our family. We absolutely love them and I will cherish them forever!
