Spring Break Adventures {Washington Oaks}

My mother-in-law and I went on a little hiking adventure through Washington Oaks State Park today. Despite the wind and chill in the air, the weather was absolutely beautiful. We had such an awesome time exploring this park that neither of us had ever been to before.

Washington Oaks has a number of nature and hiking trails that meander throughout the woods and along the Matanzas River.

Washington Oaks is famous for the unique shoreline of coquina rock formations that line its Atlantic beach. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Matanzas River, this property was once owned by a distant relative of President George Washington. The gardens were established by Louise and Owen Young who purchased the land in 1936 and built a winter retirement home.

In addition to the hiking trails, the park also has some beautiful gardens to visit.

We learned all about the local flora and fauna along our hiking trails. 

As always, hiking involved me finding trees to climb into. 

I am seriously enjoying all of my outdoor adventures this Spring Break!
