On Saturday, we attended our friends' engagement party. If you are a regular reader of my blog, you probably remember their proposal story from one of my posts back in December. (If not, you can read it here: Key West) Their engagement party was at a local brewery here in Jacksonville called Intuition Ale Works. We had such a wonderful time celebrating Mike and Emily!
Left to right: Emily (the bride), Erika (my sister-in-law) and Me
The maid of honor was our fabulous hostess for the evening and I have to brag about her super cool guestbook idea for the party. There was a piece of chalkboard slate that you used to write a message to the bride and groom on and then she took a picture of you holding your message and all the pictures are going into a guestbook for them. I thought this was such a cute idea, so I just had to share it! Here are Jared and I's guestbook pictures, which oddly enough we are not posing together...
A message to Emily since her future husband is fraternity brothers with our husbands
A message to Mike from his Kappa Sigma brothers
On Sunday night, we celebrated Jared's birthday with our friends at the Bush's house. MaryAnn and her son Jackson even made Jared a cake! She knows me too well because she monogrammed the cake, which I obviously loved! Don't count the candles though because there are supposed to be 26, but we could only find 24 candles in MaryAnn's house so Jared just gets to be 24 for another year :)
We have this family tradition with Jared's mom and sister involving a very stylish birthday crown and sunglasses. We pass the crown and glasses around throughout the year and each of us has to wear it on our birthday and take a picture. (I will be sporting the birthday crown in two months, but you can see me wearing it last year here: On Turning 24) Here is Jared in the crown this year...
We both had the day off of work on Monday, which was Jared's actual birthday. He played golf with his fraternity brothers and then we went out to dinner with my family that evening in Jax Beach. It was a great long weekend and I can't express how thankful I am that we have such amazing friends and family to share all our joy with.
Have a great week!
