Scrapbooking {Vol. 1}

I have a serious love-hate relationship with scrapbooking. I really do love all types of arts and crafts, including scrapbooking. It would seem logical that I would enjoy scrapbooking, I mean it involves some of my favorite things: pictures, stickers, pretty papers, markers, etc. However, I hate scrapbooking because it is like a never ending project. Those types of projects never work well for me. I need to do crafts that have a distinct end result in the near future. I have a number of beautiful half done scrapbooks. I always start a scrapbooking project and then either run out of supplies, time, or just get sick of doing it. So I put that scrapbook away and never touch it again. Then every time I try to pick up scrapbooking again, I remember why I quit in the first place. Scrapbooking is fun and I feel so accomplished when I finish a pretty page and add it to my book. On the other hand, scrapbooking is really time consuming and very expensive. And yet, here I am again, beginning another scrapbooking project.

A couple months ago, Jared and I finally got our wedding album from our photographer. I may have procrastinated a little bit on choosing pictures for the album, it was two years ago...oops. This wedding album is beautiful, but it only has pictures from the actual ceremony and reception and I have all these other "wedding related" photos that I need to do something with. Thus the idea for my new scrapbook. I have decided that I am going to create a scrapbook that contains all of our photos from engagement to honeymoon. I have made it a goal for myself to actually finish this entire scrapbook before school starts. I have one month and if I succeed this will be the first scrapbook I have actually finished completely. I think that I might actually accomplish this goal because unlike all my other scrapbooking projects, I actually created a plan for this one. I have created an outline of what this scrapbook will contain and given myself little mini-goals for what I am going to complete each week.

Step 1: Go to Hobby Lobby to stock up on the scrapbooking essentials. Just FYI, all scrapbooking materials are currently 50% off at Hobby Lobby...which makes buying all this stuff a little less painful. So for only $10, I got myself this snazzy new scrapbook:

Step 2: Make an outline of the contents of this scrapbook. Listen people, I am an English teacher so I can't help but create outlines and checklists for everything.

This scrapbook will contain pictures from the following: engagement, engagement announcement, save-the-date, bridal shower, bachelorette party, bridal portrait, invitations, rehearsal dinner, bridesmaids brunch and the honeymoon.

Don't worry dear followers, I will be taking pictures of all the pages I make and posting them on my blog so that you can see my scrapbooking progress. I know, try to contain your excitement :)

Side note: Since I am only working part time this summer and I don't want my husband to kill me, I am doing this scrapbooking project on a budget. In the past, I have made these ridiculously elaborate scrapbook pages that pretty much looked like works a art. Well there isn't any room in the budget for that now, so these pages will be a lot more simple.

Last night, I started working on the scrapbook and managed to create the title page and the two pages featuring my engagement.

The title page...the title of this scrapbook is "Becoming Mr. & Mrs."...I know so cheesy.

Next, two pages dedicated to my engagement which are equally as cheesy as the title page. Then again, when you get engaged in Disney World how can it not be cheesy :)

For those of you who don't know the story, here's the condensed version...Jared and I went to Disney for a weekend trip because I love Disney and when we got to the hotel, one of the cast members brought be a flower arrangement that looked like a pillow with a glass slipper on it. The attached card read, "I don't know if the slipper will fit, but I know the ring will". When I turned around, he was down on one knee. Precious, I know. My husband is definitely the romantic one in our relationship.

That is as far as I got with my scrapbooking last night, but I am going to do some more today. Have no fear there will be documentation of course! Although this is going to be quite an undertaking, I am really enjoying looking back at all these pictures. I can't believe that next Wednesday will be the 3 year anniversary of my engagement! Time really does fly by.
